Evidence-Based Parent Training Aligned With AAP Recommendations

Capable Child Family Coaching specializes in Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM)—a well-established, evidence-based approach recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as a first-line support for young children with behavioral and attention-related concerns.

Services are designed for families of children ages 2–12 and focus on parent education, coaching, and skill-building, rather than diagnosis or psychotherapy.

Scope of Practice

Capable Child Family Coaching provides educational parent training and coaching services. Services do not include psychotherapy, counseling, diagnosis, or medical treatment.

Referral Process

  • Families are welcome to contact Capable Child Family Coaching directly. No diagnosis, referral form, or prior services are required. Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM) is appropriate for families seeking practical, evidence-based strategies to support behavior, routines, and skill development at home.

  • Pediatricians and healthcare providers may recommend services as a first-line, evidence-based support for families of children ages 2–12. Services focus on parent education and coaching and are aligned with American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidance. Families may reach out directly to initiate services.

  • Teachers, school counselors, and educational teams may suggest PTBM as a family-centered support when home strategies, routines, or behavior consistency are a concern. Services are parent-directed and designed to complement—rather than replace—school-based supports.

  • Services at Capable Child Family Coaching are private pay and do not involve insurance billing. Because Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM) is an educational, skills-based service, no diagnosis, referral, or insurance authorization is required, allowing families to access support early and without delay.

REAL CAPABLE CHILD CLIENT

“We are so grateful for Jordan's calming, validating, and encouraging presence. I loved the incorporation of principles, faith, and hands-on insights given so far. One thing I have loved about our work is that we are working on practical skills and tools for right now but also considering our family values and goals in general. Jordan creates a non-judgemental, non-shaming space for parents and kids!”
