Behavior Coaching & Parent Training for Capable Kids
At Capable Child Family Coaching, we specialize in Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM) and family-centered behavior coaching for children ages 2–12.
Our work is rooted in the belief that parents are the most powerful change agents in their child’s life. Through evidence-based, skills-focused coaching, we equip caregivers with practical strategies to support behavior, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and daily routines—at home and beyond.
What is PTBM (Parent Training in Behavior Management)?
Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM) is the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommended first-line approach for behavioral concerns and ADHD-related challenges in young children.
PTBM is an evidence-based approach that empowers parents to become the primary agents of change in their child’s life. Rather than working with the child in isolation, PTBM focuses on teaching parents specific, highly effective strategies to manage challenging behaviors, improve emotional regulation, and foster a more positive parent-child relationship.
Rather than focusing on labels or diagnoses, our approach emphasizes understanding behavior, building skills, and creating supportive environments that help children thrive.
Our mission is to support families in unlocking their child’s unique, God-given potential by providing practical, evidence-based parent training and behavior education that builds calmer homes, stronger relationships, and confident parenting.

Our Services
All services are delivered through a Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM) framework, with parents receiving direct instruction, coaching, and tools they can implement consistently in everyday life.
Parent Training for Executive Functioning Skills
Executive functioning skills include planning, organization, impulse control, emotional regulation, and flexible thinking. Through parent coaching, we help caregivers learn how to:
Support routines and transitions
Strengthen organization and task completion
Build emotional regulation and frustration tolerance
Increase independence at home and school
Parents are guided in using visuals, structure, reinforcement, and skill-building strategies tailored to their child’s developmental level.
ADHD-Informed Parent Coaching
Our ADHD-informed coaching supports parents in understanding attention, activity level, and impulse control differences. Using evidence-based strategies, we help families:
Create supportive environments for focus and follow-through
Build predictable routines and expectations
Strengthen motivation and self-confidence
Reduce power struggles and overwhelm
This service is educational and skills-based and does not involve diagnosis or medical treatment.
Sensory Processing Supports for Families
Children with sensory processing differences often experience challenges in daily routines. We help parents:
Understand their child’s sensory preferences and needs
Adapt the home environment for greater regulation
Implement sensory-informed strategies during transitions and activities
The goal is to increase comfort, regulation, and participation in everyday life.
Positive Behavior Support & Behavior Planning
Challenging behaviors are often a form of communication. Through parent training, we work with caregivers to:
Identify patterns and triggers in behavior
Teach alternative, functional skills
Use proactive strategies and positive reinforcement
Create clear, consistent expectations
Behavior plans focus on skill development, not punishment, and are designed to be realistic and sustainable for families.

My Story
As a mom of two young children and a Special Education professional with over 12 years of experience, I understand the real-world challenges families face at home. I’ve seen firsthand how the right guidance, paired with practical, evidence-based strategies, can make a meaningful difference in a child’s skills, confidence, and daily functioning.
My work is rooted in supporting parents. I am passionate about equipping caregivers with clear, effective tools they can use consistently to navigate behavior, routines, and emotional development—and to build a strong foundation for long-term success.
My Philosophy
My philosophy is collaborative, strengths-based, and family-centered. I believe parents are the most powerful agents of change in a child’s life.
Through parent training and in-home coaching, I help caregivers understand behavior, build essential skills, and create supportive routines that work in everyday life. I am committed to helping families see their child as God sees them—intentionally and uniquely designed—and to supporting parents with tools that foster confidence, connection, and growth.
The goal is not perfection, but progress: equipping you with evidence-based strategies so you can guide your child with clarity, consistency, and confidence as they grow into the capable person they were created to be.
Credentials and Experience
I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education from Vanderbilt University, where I specialized in behavioral modification and child development. My professional background spans a variety of educational settings, including classroom and school leadership. This gives me a deep understanding of how children learn, grow, and respond to structured, supportive environments.
I specialize in Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM) and parent-focused coaching related to:
Executive functioning skill development
Attention, impulse control, and regulation differences
Sensory-informed strategies for daily routines
Positive behavior support and skill-building
My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and designed to be practical, developmentally appropriate, and sustainable for families.
